Religion , د يـن (Deen) <ul><li>There is no description for it in the Qur'an or other Devine Books. </li></ul><ul><li>It appears in the Qur'an as, </li></ul><ul><li>ا لــّـد يـن ، (62) Al-Deen </li></ul><ul><li>د يـنــهـم ، (10) Deena-hum </li></ul><ul><li>د يـنــكــم ، (11) Deena-kum </li></ul><ul><li>د يـنـي ، (2) Deeni </li></ul><ul><li>د يــنــا ، (4) Dina-n </li></ul>
  2. 2. Religion (Deen) <ul><li>It is closer to Philosophy than science. So religious sciences? </li></ul><ul><li>It deals with spirit and not the body. </li></ul><ul><li>It is not visible or measurable. The idea of more or less religious has no relevance. </li></ul><ul><li>It only applies to human beings. </li></ul><ul><li>No one is born with specific religion, it is gained or learned later. </li></ul>

Religion (Deen) <ul><li>Understanding of it, was formed , reformed and perfected through the history. </li></ul><ul><li>The root of religion is the natural desire and search of human for his/her source or origin. </li></ul><ul><li>There is only one religion, but there are many faiths and expressions. مــذ ا هــب </li></ul><ul><li>ا نّ ا لــّـد يـن عــنـد ا لــلـّه ا لا ســلا م (3:19 ) </li></ul><ul><li>Verily, the religion, in the eyes of Allah is Islam. </li></ul>

Religion (Deen) <ul><li>Islam is the chosen religion by Allah and it belongs to Him (He is the core of all the religious matters) (2:132,193) </li></ul><ul><li>Islam is the only accepted religion by Allah. </li></ul><ul><li>(3: 83,85) </li></ul><ul><li>First appearance in the Qur’an is in the first page as, ما لـك يـو م ا لــّد ين Owner of the day of judgment. (1:4) </li></ul>

Religion (Deen) <ul><li>فـا قـم و جـهـك للـدّ ين حـنـيفا، فـطرت الـلـّه ا لــّتي فـطرا لـّنــا س </li></ul><ul><li>عـلــيهـا ، لا تـبد يل لـخـلـق ا لـلـّه ، ذالــك د ين ا لـقــيّـم، ولا كــنّ </li></ul><ul><li>ا كـثر ا لـنـّا س لا يـعلـمـون . </li></ul><ul><li>Set your face, steadily toward the pure religion, </li></ul><ul><li>The Pure nature of Allah, from which man was created, </li></ul><ul><li>There is no change for Allah’s creation, This is the </li></ul><ul><li>standard religion, But most people do not know. </li></ul><ul><li>(30:30) </li></ul>

Religion (Deen) <ul><li>بـل الا نـسـان عـلـي نفـسـه بصـيره ( ۱۴ ) ولـو الـقي مـعـاذ يره ( ۱۵ ) </li></ul><ul><li>Surely, Man is witness and conscious of himself. </li></ul><ul><li>(Able to self monitor), though may have excuses. </li></ul><ul><li>(Has no valid excuses ). (75:14,15) </li></ul>

Religion (Deen) <ul><li>لا ا كـــراه فـي ا لــّد ين، قـد تـبـيـّن ا لـرّشد مـن ا لــغـّي ، </li></ul><ul><li>There is no compulsion in Religion, </li></ul><ul><li>Verily, it distinguishes right from wrong, </li></ul><ul><li>truth from falsehood. </li></ul><ul><li>(Growth from retardation) </li></ul><ul><li>(2:256) </li></ul>

Religion (Deen) <ul><li>Religion is the need and for the benefit of man , not Allah. ا لـحـمـد لـلــّه ا لـّذي هـدانا لـهـذا و ........... </li></ul><ul><li>There is one God, one Religion , but there are many faiths. This Unity is the root of our Universality of religion. </li></ul><ul><li>Diversity in understanding, but Unity in the beginning and destination. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Religion (Deen) <ul><li>Rel igion is the root of our moral and ethics. It shapes our over all behavior , sets our goals and supports our efforts . </li></ul><ul><li>Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) said, </li></ul><ul><li>I came to perfect human morality. </li></ul><ul><li>ا نــّي بعـثـت لا تـّـمـم مـكارم الا خـلا ق </li></ul>

Religion (Deen) <ul><li>As human Anatomy and Physiology has not changed since man came to exist, the core of religion has not changed either. </li></ul><ul><li>The original Blue Print, the rules of existence </li></ul><ul><li>and its continuation do not change. </li></ul><ul><li>و لـن تـجد لـســنـّة الـلــّه تبديلا و لـن تـجـد لـســنـّة الـلـّه تحو يلا </li></ul><ul><li>(33:43, 17:77, 48:23, 33:62) </li></ul>

Religion (Deen) <ul><li>Belief is the result of self experience , it is only </li></ul><ul><li>through this process that one reaches to the </li></ul><ul><li>state of full assurance or certainty, Yaqeen, </li></ul><ul><li>يـقـيـن or ا طــمـيـنـا ن </li></ul><ul><li>We may learn from other people’s experience, </li></ul><ul><li>But simply following them makes one an </li></ul><ul><li>Imitator. ( مــقــلــّـد )This is in contrast of goal of the </li></ul><ul><li>Deen, ر شــد or growth and development. </li></ul>

Religion (Deen) <ul><li>Not two persons have the same faith and not </li></ul><ul><li>every one’s faith is always at the same level. </li></ul><ul><li>ا لــّذ يـن آ مـنـوا ثــّم كــفـروا، ثــّم آمـنـوا ثــّم كـفـروا، .... </li></ul><ul><li>(3:90) </li></ul><ul><li>Those who believe and then disbelief, they </li></ul><ul><li>Believe again and they further disbelieve… </li></ul><ul><li>Belief is a dynamic Phenomenon </li></ul>
  13. 13. Religion (Deen) <ul><li>No man is perfect. We all sin . Final judgment is </li></ul><ul><li>based on positive balance. </li></ul><ul><li>فا مـّا مـن ثـقـلـت مـوازيـنـه فـهـو في عـيـشــَـة را ضــيــة ...... Then he/she, whose Balance(of good deed) is </li></ul><ul><li>heavier, will be in life of good pleasure and </li></ul><ul><li>Satisfaction. (101:6,7) </li></ul><ul><li>God is the only one who may forgive the sin. The </li></ul><ul><li>only way to achieve this is sincere repentance . </li></ul>

Religion (Deen) <ul><li>As there is only one religion, the root </li></ul><ul><li>of all faiths is the same. </li></ul><ul><li>One can reject accepting or following a faith, but can not escape God’s sovereignty. </li></ul><ul><li>Man made laws may ease ways of living, but it does not replace God’s rule. </li></ul><ul><li>Those who claim non religious, if they do , in fact they will have the purest form of religion. </li></ul><ul><li>(39:3) ا لا لـلـله ا لــد يــن ا لــخـا لــص </li></ul>

Religion (Deen) <ul><li>Is it necessary to believe in religion or follow certain faith? </li></ul><ul><li>Since the day of judgment and the final judge </li></ul><ul><li>is going to be the same, what happens to those who never received a message and saw no messenger? </li></ul><ul><li>Prophecy ended by Mohammad(PBUH), what happens then after? </li></ul>
