Who are we?<br />Sustainability Victoria <br />is an agency of the Victorian <br />Government which facilitates <br />and promotes the sustainable <br />use of resources<br />Low Energy Supplies and <br />Services (LESS) is an <br />environmental company <br />that has been delivering <br />energy and water saving <br />programs and products <br />since 2001.<br />
  3. 3. What is the Challenge?<br />It’s all about helping the environment, saving money on utility bills and having fun while doing it<br />
  4. 4. What is the Challenge?<br />The GreenHouse Games is a fun, fully supported sustainability Challenge involving staff families<br />The Challenge aims to promote green behaviour and benefits the staff but also, their families and the workplace <br />
  5. 5. Why get involved?<br /><ul><li>shows leadership on climate change
  6. 6. contributes to the voluntary carbon sector
  7. 7. become an employee of choice
  8. 8. a no cost off the shelf program

The role of the workplace<br />Appoint a coordinator <br />Endorsement from the senior management is important<br />Recruit 100 households <br />Involve internal communications team to promote the Challenge and celebrate achievements <br />Set up recruitment and celebratory breakfast events<br />Compete against other workplaces/companies for GreenHouse glory!<br />

How does it work?<br />It’s a web based Challenge:<br />Register workplace and coordinator<br />Participating households register<br />Households enter their sustainable actions which are converted into points<br />The Challenge runs for 8 weeks<br />Points earned are converted into prizes and awards<br />

Challenge Process<br />Sign up as a school<br />or workplace.<br />At work you can join a team or start your own.<br />Take action by changing your habits and creating a greener home.<br />You have 8 weeks to earn points and contribute to your workplace or school total.<br />Weekly spot prizes and a grand prize will be delivered to active participants.<br />Continue to live a greener life and become a GreenHouse superhero.<br />

The role of LESS<br />Provide support materials for coordinators<br />Project team available to provide individual coordinator support and answer queries<br />Report to all workplaces (via coordinators) on overall Challenge progress and scores<br />Help Desk (email and 1300 number) to support households to take sustainable actions<br />Distribute prizes<br />Make the Challenge as easy for workplaces and households as possible! <br />

The role of the coordinator<br />Be the communicator between the workplace, staff and LESS <br />Use the support materials supplied in the coordinator pack<br />Disseminate household recruitment materials <br />Motivate workplace families to get involved and register for the Challenge<br />Encourage households to complete the Challenge for the full 8 weeks<br />Report back to workplace about progress and results<br />

The role of the team<br />Each work place can have several teams, with up to 5 members<br />A team captain should be appointed to motivate the team and liaise with the coordinator <br />There are team prizes to be won (across all workplaces)<br />Your workplace might like to run a competition between departments or states<br />
