  2. 2. MARSNo planet has ever evoked so much interest thanMars.This was due to the observations made by theItalian astronomer,his name is Giovanni VirginioSchiaparelli who observe/discover the planet marsin 1877.
  3. 3. MARSHe observed thin lines on the surface of Marswhich he called canals or channels.Space probes showed that canals do not existin Mars. They are only optical illusions.It has no free oxygen.
  4. 4. MARSThe atmosphere of Mars is composed primarilyof carbon dioxide and nitrogen with a smallamount of water vapor.There are Winter,Spring,Summer and Autumnperiods.
  5. 5. MARSDuring winter,polar caps shrink in sizeuntil they disappear entirely duringsummer.In autumn,the polar caps are coveredwith a thin haze of cloud.

  8. 8. NATURAL SATELLITEIt has two natural satellites or moonsPhobos (fear)-the larger and closer of thetwo natural satelliteof Mars.Phobos is 7.24 times as massive as thesecond moon Deimos.

DEIMOSDeimos (dead)- is composed of rock rich incarbonaceous material, much like C-type asteroids andcarbonaceous chondrite meteorites.It is cratered, but the surface is noticeably smootherthan that of Phobos, caused by the partial filling of craterswith regolith.The two largest craters, Swift and Voltaire
