  • Magic = hard work. Ties in well with what I write about on my blog, the art of making your own luck. So today, I’m going to help you figure out how to make that luck through guest blogging. Mention chat box, ask questions at the end, takes notes if you want but will offer as recording and slideshare
  • 125 ppl signed up… know it’s a topic you care about. To get a a sense for who’s with us tonight… Anybody guest posted before? Type YES or NOT YET into chat box.
  • If you’ve done webinars before, you know… Give GIVE AWAY much helpful information as possible – not selling anything. Want to share what has worked for me and to help you succeed.
  • Worked as a journalist for six years, at both the Houston Chronicle and U.S. News & World Report – now have my own business. Make my living… Guest blogging fits pretty naturally into what I do…
  • Before we get into HOW to place your posts… STORY of mashable running post – led to 50 sales in one day
  • So let’s get right into…
  • Sounds really simple, but can actually be a lot of work and it’s really a big part of your pitch Start with your network, follow on Twitter –- so it’s not a cold pitch
  • I often get emails where writers say they want to contribute, but they don’t offer any ideas.
  • This is important if the editor you’re pitching doesn’t know you.
  • All of these pieces, you can do them in one or two sentences. Keeping it short will show the editor that 1. you respect their time and 2. you can write concisely
  • But the fact that all those people pitch so POORLY, means…
  • Will put up on slideshare
  • So once your pitch is accepted, how do you go about actually WRITING the post? Could also be called 5 mistakes people make
  • Your introduction is your one chance to hook the reader
  • Even if you’re sharing a personal story, turn it into lessons for the reader, so it’s not all about you Increases chances of success for you and the editor
  • Makes editor more likely to envision your post on the site also helps your post get traffic, which makes you AND the editor happy
  • Guidelines often posted on the site – include how they want it formatted (HTML), whether you can include links – and here’s a bonus tip for you on LINKS Carrie – awesome marketing assistant – will share the link to brazen’s blog
  • Easy way to organize information To give you a sense of how successful list posts are…
  • Sharing this partly because I’m hoping some of you will want to guest post for brazen’s blog
  • Before we go to questions, I want to share with you a technique that has worked for me. This summer, when I wanted to do a push with guest posts, I realized I needed a PLAN.
  • Do you have to have your own blog? Can you recommend any guest blogging programs or courses?

    18. 18. Great Example B Hi Alexis!Explains Im XXX from The Do-It-Yourself Degree. My website teaches students how to earn a bachelorshis mission degree in 1 year by taking exams instead of classes. Exams cost $80-$200 apiece, versus $3,000+ for a class.
