- Connecting a computer to any other computer anywhere in the world via dedicated routers and servers is a definition of Internet. No one owns Internet, although several organizations the world over collaborate in its functioning and development. The high-speed, fiber-optic cables through which the bulk of the Internet data travels are owned by telephone companies in their respective countries. The development of hypertext based technology (called World Wide Web, WWW) provided means of displaying text, graphics, and animations, and easy search and navigation tools that triggered Internet's explosive worldwide growth.
- Why could we live without Internet? When I got rid of the internet at home, I did it mostly so I could focus on writing without distractions. But I found so many extra benefits since I got rid of the internet: As you can see we can do more meaningful things with our time, time for reading books, time for writing, more time for our friends, time for exercise. We are less distracted and stressed and if we don’t have an internet bill we can save money
- Why couldn’t we live without Internet? Few reasons why we can’t live without internet are: COMMUNICATION - E-mail is by far the most inexpensive and efficient way to communicate with persons outside of local calling areas. Many Web sites now offer e-mail service free of charge. Internet Web sites, e-mail, and more advanced technologies such as Internet phone service and videoconferencing, are incomparable tools to organize communities and strengthen social bonds. EDUCATION - "Distance learning," using information technology, is one of the fastest-growing segments of adult education. Even many professional tutors are taking their services online. Those without Internet access will miss out on many educational opportunities. JOBS - The Internet is becoming more and more essential to getting and keeping a job. Increasingly, companies are moving their recruitment efforts online, and larger numbers of job-seekers each day are putting their resumes onto career sites on the Web BUSINESS - The Internet is becoming an essential part of doing business. More and more large companies and government entities are turning to the Web to choose contractors and suppliers, using business-to-business, or B2B, sites. Businesses not on the Internet will find it difficult to survive nowadays.
