Jon is a nationally recognized thought leader in the engineering profession, frequently writing and speaking on the relationship between philosophy and engineering, including ethics. He serves as the Secretary on the Board of Directors of the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA), is the founding chair of the Engineering Philosophy Committee within the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and is a member of the international steering committee for the Forum on Philosophy, Engineering and Technology (fPET).
