  2. 2. Introduction Aim of the Experiment  To find out which will evaporate faster; Sugared water or plain water My Hypothesis  I believe that plain water will evaporate faster than sugared water
  3. 3. Apparatus needed 2 Identical cups with the same surface area A Beaker A container containing sugarThe only variable that is changed is that 1 glass contains sugar while the other doesn’t
  4. 4. Steps to do an experiment
  5. 5. STEP 1Pour some water into thebeaker. Preferably 200 ml. Pourthe same amount into bothglass. Both amt. of water ineach glass must be the same.Preferably 200 ml each.
  6. 6. STEP 2Mark each glass A and B. Thendecide which glass you want topour sugar into. In my case, Iput sugar into glass A.
  7. 7. STEP 3Pour all the sugar in thecontainer into the glass that youhave chosen to put sugar into.Then stir it well.
  8. 8. STEP 4Then, mark the water level. Thispart can be very tricky, but youwill have to do it right. If not,your experiment can fail.
  9. 9. STEP 5This will be the most longestand final step. You will have toleave the glass jar overnight orlonger for better results. In mycase, I’m leaving it for 24 hrs.

Conclusion and Explanation  Conclusion  Glass A has a slightly higher water level than Glass B.  From this, we can conclude that plain water can evaporate faster than sugared water.  Explanation  Water is colourless and odorless, and sugar water is made by dissolving sugar into water. Sugar can absorb water from the atmosphere, and this can stall evaporation. Less energy is required to evaporate water than sugar water when the conditions are constant and there is a significant amount of sugar in the sugar water.
