  1. 2. <ul><li>Cervical cancer is a disease that causes the cells of the cervix to grow abnormally </li></ul><ul><li>The cervix is found in the lower part of the womb (uterus) and leads into the vagina </li></ul><ul><li>Cervical cancer may not have any symptoms until the later stages </li></ul>What is Cervical Cancer?
  2. 3. It is the most common cancer affecting Indian women Cervical Cancer: Quick Facts India contributes 1/4 th of the total annual incidence of Cervical Cancer across the globe 1,32,082 women in India are diagnosed with Cervical Cancer and 74,118 die from the disease each year
  3. 4. Results of a Recent Survey indicate extremely poor levels of Awareness among Indian Women Only 30% of the women surveyed were aware of HPV 40% knew about cervical cancer A mere 13% thought that it was a serious disease
  4. 5. <ul><li>A large number of women dying merely due to lack of awareness about Cervical Cancer, the only cancer that is curable, is a cause of concern </li></ul><ul><li>We realized that the only way to make a difference is to reach out to as many people and generate awareness </li></ul><ul><li>FACC aims to start a whole new movement that brings in an entire ecosystem comprising Corporate Organizations, Media, Hospitals, NGOs, Public Health Bodies, Cancer Survivors and Individuals by large to come together to protect our women against Cervical Cancer </li></ul><ul><li>Join us and spread the word among the people whom you care about </li></ul>Fight Against Cervical Cancer (FACC)

The impact so far <ul><li>Created a Facebook page which has over 1700 fans and is a source for info on cervical cancer </li></ul><ul><li>The twitter account has over 200 followers </li></ul><ul><li>The You-Tube channel features videos of the supporters of the campaign </li></ul><ul><li>The Blog is a platform for supporters to express their thoughts on cervical cancer </li></ul>

The impact so far <ul><li>Press Briefing held at Fortis La Femme </li></ul><ul><li>Ekta Choudhary, Miss India Universe addressed the media together with Dr. Ranjana Sharma, Gynaecologist, Fortis La Femme </li></ul><ul><li>Fortis conducted pap smear tests at discounted rates on Mother’s Day (May 10) </li></ul>
