Math Education Needs a Makeover

This presentation I presented to the School of Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, August 24, 2013. The title of this presentation was inspired from Dan Meyer's TED presentation, 'Math Class Needs a Makeover'.

Published in: Education, Technology
  • I really enjoyed this slideshow, especially the following quote by Eric Jensen, 'There is no such thing as an unmotivated student. There are, however, students in unmotivated states.' I will have to check out iTunes U. This seems like a fantastic resource for teachers and students alike. I will also check out the following resource; Dan Meyer on Real World Math. I love the imagery of the quadratic within a real world situation. Thanks so much for sharing this resource.

Mathematics curricula should be redesigned to highlight and have students experience the very real everyday applications
