You may know us from our past – primarily our construction and drilling equipment, businesses which have been divested as part of our strategy of being in less capital-intensive, cyclical businesses. The New York City headquarters of one of the world’s leading banks reached out to Trane when it needed an HVAC system that addressed their overall goals of energy savings and environmental consciousness. Trane installed a thermal storage system that cools the building with ice made at night during off-peak, reduced-rate hours —reducing on-peak energy consumption by over 2.15 million kWh per year. The New York State Energy, Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) presented bank with a ceremonial check in the amount of $820,000 representing the amount of the incentives provided by NYSERDA through its New York Energy Smart™ Commercial and Industrial Performance Program, and its Peak-Load Reduction Program. When a national chain of supermarkets ranked in the Top Ten Green Brands of 2007 needed a partner to help build an environmentally friendly supermarket and energy efficient refrigeration system, they turned to Hussmann. By using Hussmann refrigerated and frozen food display cases and Protocol distributed refrigeration systems, the new store will be able to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 22.5 million pounds and reduce energy usage by 30% each year. Trane CleanEffects™, a whole-house air cleaner that attaches to your central heating and cooling system, removes more than 99 percent of the common flu from the filtered air .
