Slasher
• The subgenre of horror that I’ve chosen for my film is Slasher.
• It made sense for me to choose this subgenre because these type
of movies started off the ‘Golden Age’ of horror movies.
• Films like Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and
Halloween are what serves as my inspiration for the horror film I
would like to produce, as they are from the classical era of horror.
• Psychopathic killer- supernatural qualities
The Concept
The concept behind my horror film reverts back to classic
slasher horror films, Friday The 13th to be more specific.
The final girl convention of slasher horror films will definitely
be highlighted in my own creation.
Treatment:Location
Summer Camp, isolated from society.
The suburbs – away from help
- Killer uses this to advantage, kills off characters one by one
Treatment: Synopsis
• Group of naïve young teens; interested in sex,
drugs, and other disorderly things
• One member – final girl, doesn’t take part – the
virgin, the innocent one – she survives
• Killer is masked- phallic object – axe – the signature
weapon
• Teens go camping – everything seems good – then
changes – friends start disappearing one by one –
bodies are found – but chopped up (work of the
axe)
Treatment: Target Audience
• Teen horror film, slashers are usually directed at teenagers and young adults
• for this reason, my horror films target audience will be from the ages of 16 - 25
Treatment: Symbolic Codes
• The symbolic codes that will be in my horror film is the
use of phallic objects.
• My antagonist will be the one to use the phallic object to
murder his victims
• The phallic object I decided to use is the axe, as its quite
a blunt object - penetration
Treatment: Narrative
• Equilibrium: the calm before the storm –
carefree friends participating in not to
innocent activities
• Disequilibrium: Go to summer camp – things
go to wrong – friends start to disappear one
by one- killer lurks in the shadows – kills all
but final girl
• Resolution: antagonist is shot “dead” by
protagonist – final girl
Antagonist
• The idea behind my antagonist derives from Friday the 13th
• Boy drowns in that same summer camp years ago
• Is pushed into the pool by the same people that behave like the group
of friends
• Well awaited revenge
