Dnc and bluetooth

  1. 1. DNC and Bluetooth Ahmad Bashar Ataji
  2. 2. What is DNC ?  DNC = Direct numerical control.  Prospering with the success of CAD/CAM with 3D contours.
  3. 3. Why DNC ?  Huge file sizes.  So limited memories for CNCs.  Without DNC, files are spoon-fed.
  4. 4. DNC Overview :  DNC PC  CNC Machine  Connection
  5. 5. DNC Overview (cont):  CAD/CAM workstation
  6. 6. DCN (Direct CNC Networking) : DNC  Two different networks DCN  One network
  7. 7. Bluetooth Fundamentals :  Harald bluetooth king of Denmark in the late 900s  Bluetooth 1.0 has 1Mbps maximum  Bluetooth 2.0 has 3Mbps maximum  It is a radio-frequency standard
  8. 8. Bluetooth Technology :  It uses low power waves about 1 milliwatt.  Its range is 10m.  It can connect 8 devices simultaneously.  It uses SS-FH technology.  It uses ISM frequency band (between 2.402GHz and 2.48GHz).
  9. 9. SS-FH Technology :  SS-FH = Spread Spectrum Frequency Hopping.  A device randomly uses one of 97 frequency band.
  10. 10. SS-FH Technology (cont):  The transmitting device changes frequency 1600 times every second.  Interference will be small and over short period of time.  The random change in frequency is done in regular way (using generative codes).
  11. 11. Building Bluetooth network (piconet) :  It uses master/slave.  Building piconet is divided into steps: Inquiry. Page. Connecting. Talking.
  12. 12. Inquiry :  Each unit has an address.  Each master has a range of addresses.  Master asks for response from units in range.
  13. 13. Page :  Master and each slave agree on the connection properties.
  14. 14. Connection and Taking :
  15. 15. What Bluetooth has to do with DNC  Replacing the serial connection by using a Bluetooth adapter.
  16. 16. Industrial Bluetooth network :  This networks are build over two levels Piconets Industrial nets  Piconets are build by replacing the master with an access point. This access point is the gateway between the Ethernet and the piconet
  17. 17. Bluetooth Networks :
