GIS Database Creation
Development of Interactive Web Map (on City’s
website)
‒ Ability to generate maps (Citizens & Staff)
‒ Keep track of zoning changes and SUPs
‒ Provide accurate data (City’s utility infrastructure)

Will be implemented on the City’s Website and open
to the public by the end of June.

• Broadway Re-design (street cross sections)
TxDOT & CoAH Joint Project for MPO funding
‒ Reduce number of lanes, widen sidewalks, add on-
street parking, planting strips, street trees, address
drainage, and bury utilities.
‒ Worked with consultant and utilized GIS data to
calculate properties removed from the floodplain. Was
utilized for Economic Development study as part of the
MPO funding application.
Status
‒ Project submitted to MPO and approved for funding.

Sign Regulations – In Progress
Updated sign regulations
Removed vague, inconsistent, and conflicting
sections of the code
Provided a provision for “re-facing” of signs to be
approved by staff and waive requirement for ARB
approval
“Re-facing” is when a new tenant switches out the
name on an existing sign.

Allowed for some window signage.
Gave more direct sizes, dimensions, and
guidelines for citizens to follow.
Held public workshops to allow citizen and
business owners the opportunity to
comment and provide feedback.
Enforcement & Education of new regs will

inconsistent, and conflicting sections of code
‒ Chapter 17 (Subdivisions) review of
regulations to ensure they match with current
state law

adequately protecting adjacent land owners.

other areas to be determined)

Marketing
Consider a Branding/Marketing Campaign?
‒ Work in conjunction with Branding campaign to
create brochures, handouts, and aggressively
market the City.
‒ Utilize the City’s new GIS capabilities to compile
demographics, statistics, vacant lots, and utility
infrastructure to help market the city to prospective
businesses.
