  • Hi. My name. If I do my job you wont remember me
  • Lots of disparate info through the night Not tied together. Hard to remember… Why?
  • Evolved to sleep Process and toss it Too much data => insanity. What to keep?
  • Dangerous stuff. You don’t remember? Well, that’s ok. The lion ate you. So not anyone elses problem. Ever.
  • Pleasure. Simply food. If you don’t eat then you … DIE. Also, yes, sex. Cause if you don’t reproduce then, no progeny to pass your pleasure seeking sorting method along.
  • What about names? Hell, what about language, programming, complex stuff… How to remember? 1) Trick your brain
  • Brute memorization. Short vs long term recall… Concentration. Either recall or judge. Recognize a person THEN remember you don’t like them
  • Photographic memory. We use HUGE amounts of brain for this, very little triggered for say… learning legal codes or how to program twitter
  • Language is visual memory. Learning letters? Visual. Learning words? Visual. Mapping them on to things? Visual.
  • Basically hangers and hooks. Association and connection of word to thing or word to concept… string them together, fill a whole damned closet!
  • What about complex things? Again, names are funny… They are nonsensical! They apply to multiple individuals who otherwise share ZERO TRAITS! So, context is what helps. Visual, plus some added item
  • This is the root of why what I do works. Sketchnotes. Live note taking. Talk on trends of 2013 with Chicago Entrepreneurial Center. [harper reed of obama campaign, marcy capron polymathic
  • Taking notes helps. Occupies the wandering part of the mind. Kinda like smoking. Provides focus. Can then add some context.
  • The other thing the brain does is create stories. Linear. Stakcing. It’s on top of… not just walk back, but look back.
  • Billy family circus. Imagine doing this, yes with visuals, to explain a business model?
  • So we’ve got a few elements here Danger/Pleasure = emotion Rote memorization Metaphor to make it relatable Stories
  • Priming is the other part. We see what we’re told to pay attention to. Cake vs phone numbers? Yeah.
  • Cake MEME!
