Freshers day anchoring script

  1. 1. Freshers Day anchoring script Newness or novelty has been intriguing and fascinating to man since the Neanderthal times. Novelty for us is excitement and exuberance, surprise and science, cheerfulness and joy, hope and happiness, boldness and buoyancy, positiveness and passion. Good Morning. Namaste. Vanakkam. I welcome all of you into this beautiful <day> morning to welcome a batch of new faces into this department. I was just wondering if life is like a game. Like those we have in our phones. Just like these games are divided into different levels, our life has different stages. Each level has its own difficulties but crossing them is what makes us a veteran. Going by this I would like to congratulate these new faces who have successfully cleared their previous levels and stepped into this new world. Before we further advance into the day I would like to request all of you to please stand up for <prayer name>. Every experience in your life is being orchestrated to teach you something you need to know to move forward. Dear juniors today or rather a month back you have started this new journey along with this department which will take all of us forward. Now I would like to request <name & designation> to formally welcome the batch of <year>.
  2. 2. (Thank you) In his commencement address to Stanford University batch of 2005 Steve Jobs had shared a small lesson from his career. Quoting his words... "You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life." Now I would like to request <name & designation>, to share some of his motivating experiences. (Thank you) Well any event like this is incomplete without a cultural twist. So I call upon stage <name(s)> to present a song. (Thank you) “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Bioinformatics is a dream that you have seen dear juniors and I believe the future will be yours. I would like to request <name & designation>, to share his views on the subject of Bioinformatics and few words of encouragement in taking up this wonderful subject. (Thank you) Next I would like to request <name & designation>, to say a few words to our new friends.
  3. 3. (Thank you) It has come to my ears that this new batch has ample of talented students. Let's see if it's really true. I call upon stage <name(s)> for their dance performance. Next I would like to request <name & designation> to say a few words to encourage our junior. (Thank you) There is an old proverb: “If you are in Rome be like Romans”. But to be like Romans you must know who they are. So as dear newbies we have a short movie prepared by <name> to familiarise you with the department. As the adage goes: “ All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. So we have also included a few games and it will be co-ordinated by <name>. The wonderful dance performance of the first years' have made some of my classmates envious of their talent and I know they won't give it up so easily. <name> is here to challenge them. <name> back again with another game. In this small department of ours we only have the PhD scholars whom we can call our seniors. To whom we can go for help regarding academics. So I would like to call on stage a few of our seniors to welcome and encourage our new friends.
  4. 4. Oh! Oh! Oh! My friends are not done yet …. They have yet another dance lined up. We have come to the end of the program. I would request <name> to propose the vote of thanks.
