Presented by Vara Prasad [Sustainable Intensification Innovation Lab - Kansas State University] about the SIA Framework. This poster was presented on 5 - 8 February 2019 at the Africa RISING Program Learning Event.
The Sustainable Intensification Assessment Framework
Sustainable Intensification Assessment Framework (SIAF) is a method to holistically assess
the performance of research innovation(s) that helps to identify synergies and tradeoffs
across multiple domains (productivity, economics, environmental, human, and social).
“Sustainable Intensification Assessment Framework (SIAF)”
Approach:
o The SIAF comprises a methods
manual which provides most
commonly used indicators,
metrics, and methods of
assessment for each domain
organized at four different scales
(field/plot, farm, household,
community/landscape).
o The guide provides a step-by-
step process for selecting
appropriate indicators; assessing
tradeoffs and synergies;
operationalizing the tool; and
presenting outputs.
o The SI toolkit is an interactive
web-based method to practice
the framework and quantify
tradeoffs and synergies of
selected innovations.
