Put the finalquotation marks outside of the periodat the end of sentence.b. “My brother is a student,” shesaid.In (b) use a comma, not a period, atthe end of the quoted sentence whenit precedes she said.Quoting more than one Explanationc. “My brother is a student. He isattending a university,” she said.In (c) quotation marks are placed atthe beginning and end of the completequote. Notice: there are no quotationmarks after student.Quoting a question or an exclamation Explanationd. She asked, “When will you behere?”f. “When will you be here?” sheasked.g. She said, “Watch out!”In (e) the question mark is inside thequotation markIn (f) if a question mark is used, nocomma is used before she asked.In (g) the exclamation point is insidethe quotation marks.
