  3. 3. The mobile site must be coded using either XHTML or XML
  4. 4. Character encoding should be UTF-8
  5. 5. Images should be jpeg or gif
  6. 6. The maximum total page size recommended is 20 kilobytes
  7. 7. Size of screen is important The largest screen size available is probably 640 x 480, whereas the average is closer to 120 pixels
  8. 8. The most important information must be right at the top of the page
  9. 9. Users prefer values from a list of choices, such as radio buttons or lists
  10. 10. Always provide a 'back' button as many phones don't have a back button
  11. 11. Adhere to website accessibility design guidelines, as set out by the W3C
