1. 1. Projectsto reduce co2 emissions
EUROPE
Selene Bergese 29/03/11
2. 2.
 3. 3. Equipping power plants to store CO2 underground
To cut their CO2 emissions, industrial installations and power plants could in future:
USEnew technology to capture CO2;
store it "permanently and safely underground" in geological formations.
4. 4. Conditions
300 million will be used to finance 12 commercial demonstration projects by Eu.
If there are storage sites available,
if the transport facilities are viable,
if it is technically and economically feasible to retrofit the power station for CO2 capture
Member State's authorities have to guarantee for plants with an output of more than 300 Megawatts a suitable space on the installation site for the equipment necessary to capture and compress CO2.
5. 5. Reducing CO2 emissions from new cars
Phasing in -manufacturerswillbegiven interim targetsofensuringthataverage CO2 emissionsof:
Long term target - the compromise introduced a long term target for 2020 for the newcarfleetofaverageemissionsof 95 g CO2/km.
6. 6. Fines
Manufacturers will have to pay fines (so called "excess emissions premiums"), if their average emissions of CO2 exceed the specific emission target set by the regulation:
7. 7. Advantages
SPECIAL TARGETS
SUPER CREDITDS
Each new passenger car with CO2 emissions of less than 50 g CO2/km shall count as:
10. 10. In 2009 Italy was the 4th country in the worldfor reduction of CO2 emission (9.3 %).
01/3/11 the 1° experimentalplant in italytocapture co2
Reached objectives
11. 11. First experimental plant in Italy to capture CO2
WHERE? In Italy, near Brindisi.
WHEn? It has been inaugurated the 1st march 2011 and it will be activated starting from 2012.
