  2. 2. HISPANIC DAY, 12 th of October <ul><ul><li>Christopher Columbus was born in 1451 in ¿Genoa? 1451 - Valladolid, 20 th of May in 1506 . His parents were Domenico Colombo and Susana Fontanarrosa. He was a sailar and he wanted to reach India by another way. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>During many years, he was asking for the money. The Catholic Monarchs Isabel and Ferdinand financed Columbus travels. When he got the enough money, he started this important voyage. </li></ul></ul>WHEN COLON LIVED
  3. 3. THE DISCOVERY <ul><li>He reached land on the 12th of October. </li></ul><ul><li>He made four voyages. </li></ul><ul><li>His first expedition departed on the 3rd of August in 1492. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>The 12 th of October is a very </li></ul><ul><li>important Festivity in Spain. </li></ul><ul><li>During the dictatorship on this day, it was celebrated “ THE HISPANIC DAY”. Later it was called “THE COLORCAST DAY” </li></ul><ul><li>It’s a National Day. It’s “The Civil Guard Day”, A popular military parade l takes palce on the 12th of October, featuring attendance by government and the royal family . </li></ul><ul><li>It’s the most important day in ZARAGOZA, a Spanish city in the Northeast of Spain. “THE VIRGIN OF PILAR DAY” </li></ul>Zaragoza’s Cathedral is called “EL PILAR”

  8. 8. WHAT DO WE EAT? <ul><li>We celebrate Andalusian Day with our students in different ways: </li></ul><ul><li>We eat bread with oil and some salt. </li></ul>

WHY DO WE CELEBRATE ANDALUSIAN DAY? <ul><li>Because it commemorates </li></ul><ul><li>the referendum of the '80 </li></ul><ul><li>years, when we have full </li></ul><ul><li>autonomy to the region of </li></ul><ul><li>Andalusia. We have an </li></ul><ul><li>Andalusian Constitution. </li></ul>
