Lauri Blank was destined to be a creative soul with aburning passion for art. Raised by an artistic mother whoattended design school in NYC, and grandparents that arestill performing musicians (well into their 80’s), Lauri wasconstantly engaged by creativity and artistic expression; thefoundation of a future art career. Her talents wereimmediately recognized by patrons in Washington D.C. andthe Miami area, where she accepted numerous importantcommissions. And then in 1999, Lauri’s career would take adifferent turn, one that resembled one of the masters shestudied for most of her life. Lauri Blank was commissionedto paint the ceiling of an 18th century church in OldMontreal. For months, the artist worked day and nightpainting the Cathedral’s ceiling while standing onscaffolding that had a five-story drop onto the marble floorbelow. It was the most magical experience she has ever hadand is most proud of this work.
Blanks work has been exhibited in galleries throughout thenation. She receives frequent media attention and hasappeared on numerous magazine covers throughout theMiami area. In 2002, Blank was selected as the artist for the2002 Grammy Awards. Her "Post 911" Grammy worksymbolized the patriotism of a nation blended with our love ofmusic. Lauri’s style of melding the techniques and icons of theold master with today’s cultural ideology, has won heracclaim. Her powerful images, along with her passion anddevotion jump off the canvas and transport the viewer into aby-gone era. Her own imitable style, which the artist refers toas “Romantic Figuratism”, brings a sense of peace andreflection to the modern day world. “The passion in myheart…influences and fuels my love of art and my profession”says Blank of her accomplishments.
