VILNIUS HISTORIC CENTERVilnius Old Town – an example of a city formation ofimmense cultural and historic value – inscribed into UNESCO World Heritage List 1994 for two criteria: 13-18 c. Vilnius as the capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, played an important role in the whole region: Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Poland; Vilnius is the most easterly city of the Central Europe, subject to a strong influence of Eastern and Western European cultures, a typical example of medieval street patterns with valuable monuments of Gothic, Renaissance, Classical and Baroque architecture.
