  4. 4. VILNIUS HISTORIC CENTERVilnius Old Town – an example of a city formation ofimmense cultural and historic value – inscribed into UNESCO World Heritage List 1994 for two criteria: 13-18 c. Vilnius as the capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, played an important role in the whole region: Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Poland; Vilnius is the most easterly city of the Central Europe, subject to a strong influence of Eastern and Western European cultures, a typical example of medieval street patterns with valuable monuments of Gothic, Renaissance, Classical and Baroque architecture.

PREPARATION TO INVESTIGATEA visit to the site by the teacher(s)Preparing a questionnaire in order to measurethe change in students’ knowledge, attitudes,skills and behavior in site and its conservation Preparing students for special types ofactivities (recreating the past, telling storiesand legends about the site or drawings of it) Plan the work that students will be asked todo as follow-up to their visit
