Important Dates <ul><li>These dates are in your Oxford Brochure: </li></ul><ul><li>May 15 th : Mandatory preliminary meeting and reception (for students only) at BSC at 2:00 PM. </li></ul><ul><li>We will meet at WHS on the street side school entrance promptly at 1:00 PM. </li></ul><ul><li>Let’s organize a carpool. Eligible driver volunteers? </li></ul>
  3. 3. Departure <ul><li>We will have an evening departure from Logan airport on July 5th . Plan to arrive UNUSUALLY early – at least three hours before flight time (4:00PM). </li></ul><ul><li>We will arrive on July 6 th and be met by a chartered bus that will take us to the college. </li></ul><ul><li>If you are taking a different flight just check the arrival of American Airlines (Flight # 108Q) : Leaving Boston Logan on July 5, 2011, at 8:05 pm and arriving London Heathrow at 7:45 am July 6th </li></ul>

Important Details <ul><li>You must carry a passport with you at all times . </li></ul><ul><li>Make a copy to keep in a separate place. </li></ul><ul><li>Have your health insurance card with you at all times . </li></ul><ul><li>Students are required to attend all scheduled classes and program sponsored trips . </li></ul><ul><li>Report to Ms. Davenport if you are not feeling well. </li></ul><ul><li>If you administer self-injections, you must have a sharps disposal box in your room. </li></ul>

Emergency Care <ul><li>Treatment is free at any hospital emergency room. </li></ul><ul><li>In the event that Ms. Davenport or Wadham College official needs to assist in health care decisions for a student under eighteen (18). Please provide a note (today) that gives your permission. </li></ul><ul><li>Every reasonable attempt to reach a parent will be made. </li></ul>

Telephone Contact <ul><li>Your student will call, email (or Skype?)you upon arrival. </li></ul><ul><li>The dorm room phones can receive outside calls, and students can call other rooms and extensions throughout the college. </li></ul><ul><li>Phone cards are available for 5 pounds at the Porter’s Lodge for out of college calls and can be used from the dorm room phone. </li></ul><ul><li>There is a pay-phone at the college. </li></ul>

Mrs. Davenport’s Contact info <ul><li>Mrs. Davenport will give her room telephone number to students when she arrives, and your child can pass that info onto you. </li></ul><ul><li>You may leave a message for your child or Mrs. Davenport with the Porter by calling the college. </li></ul><ul><li>A message will be posted on the message board at the entrance to the quad. </li></ul>

Meals <ul><li>You must be at all meals . </li></ul><ul><li>Breakfast is served every morning at 8:15 AM. </li></ul><ul><li>Dinners are Monday thru Friday at 7:00 PM. </li></ul><ul><li>If you cannot make breakfast due to illness, call Mrs. Davenport by 7:30 AM. The attendance “safety” check and announcements take place at breakfast. </li></ul><ul><li>If you plan to leave campus and eat out for a scheduled dinner, you must notify Mrs. Davenport at breakfast so that she may inform the chef. So plan ahead. </li></ul><ul><li>The college staff regards a missed meal as disrespectful and wasteful. </li></ul><ul><li>If you are a vegetarian let us know; you then will be expected to eat vegetarian throughout, as special meals are prepared. </li></ul><ul><li>Any dietary requirements? Allergies? </li></ul>

(American Express – You can “leave home without it!”) </li></ul><ul><li>ATM – Bank of America is best. </li></ul><ul><li>Tylenol or Advil i.e, pain relievers, antihistamines, Tums, band aids, small sewing kit, vitamins </li></ul><ul><li>One spiral notebook, pens, USB Flash drive </li></ul>

What not to bring <ul><li>expensive jewelry or valuable items (unless you have them with you at all times) </li></ul><ul><li>a lot of cash – ATM one block away </li></ul><ul><li>travelers checks </li></ul><ul><li>Electric razors, hair dryers – they tend to blow out even with a converter. </li></ul><ul><li>Hair dryers are relatively inexpensive at the local stores. Pitch in and share one or two. </li></ul><ul><li>Too many clothes! Pack smart and light. Save room for purchases. There is a laundry facility. </li></ul><ul><li>You can buy a laundry card at the Porter’s Lodge. </li></ul>

Dress code for classes, trips and dining hall <ul><li>Ladies: Modesty should guide your clothes selections! </li></ul><ul><li>no midriff bearing outfits or revealing necklines. no short-shorts </li></ul><ul><li>Gentlemen: No caps in dining hall or class </li></ul><ul><li>no sloppy, worn out jeans. </li></ul><ul><li>no tee shirts with offensive messages. </li></ul>

Be Leaders and Role Models <ul><li>Do not let the behavior or dress of the “traditional” college students guide your choices. </li></ul><ul><li>We are invited to participate in this program, and we do not want to do anything to jeopardize our continued invitation. </li></ul><ul><li>So, if you see some students with caps in the dining hall or inappropriately dressed, do not view that as permission for you to do the same. </li></ul>

Payment <ul><li>The cost of the program is $4950.00 </li></ul><ul><li>The coat of the flight is: $1,074.00 </li></ul><ul><li>(subject to change by May 15 th due to oil prices – either way) </li></ul><ul><li>If you have frequent flyer miles, you can make your own arrangements. </li></ul><ul><li>Payment to college is due by May 15 th . </li></ul><ul><li>Make checks payable to Bridgewater State University.
