2. Introduction
Technology has helped the medical field in may ways:
Medical Robots
Testing
Better Treatment
Helping older generations and people with disabilities be more
independent
3. Medical Robots
Medical Robots are becoming more common in the medical
field.
They have many uses including; helping doctors and the
patients.
An example of robotics in medicine today is laser eye
surgery.
4. Medical Robots
There are robots being tested to help surgeons complete
operations with a higher degree of precision.
Robotics can also be used to replace lost limbs.
There is research being done at the Biomedical Engineering
Research Centre (CREB) to measure forces on the humeral
joint, according to the type of suture used after implanting
prostheses.
5. Medical Robots
This is an example of the types of robotics that the
Biomedical Engineering Research Centre (CREB) is
developing
6. Testing
Regular blood tests and lab work can reveal anything from a
lack of iron in your blood to certain types of cancers, diabetes
and possible heart conditions.
X-Rays, CAT Scans, and MRI’s all help doctors find any
issues hidden in your body.
It is safe to assume that as time passes that the forms of
testing we know now will be upgraded and made to be more
efficient.
7. Treatment
With better testing, better treatment is not far behind.
Scientists at Cambridge University have reportedly managed
to grow all three main types of cells in a laboratory that make
up the walls of a blood vessel.
An advancement like this could lead to many forms of new
treatments, if it is possible to produce “off the shelf” arteries
and veins.
8. Helping the Elderly
There are many products today that are designed to make it
easier for the elderly to be independent.
With advancements in medical technology it is helping
people live a longer and more peaceful life.
9. Grand Care System
The Grand Care System is a high-tech set of sensors
installed throughout the home that monitors and sends
reports to family members around the world.
It is designed to help the elderly remain independent and
stay out of old folks homes.
11. Helping People with Disabilities
Robotics plays a big role in helping people with disabilities
become more independent.
The Joystick Drive System allows someone with a disability
the opportunity to drive.

12. Technology that Helps People with
Disabilities
Stem Cell Research:
Can help repair damaged muscle tissue
Can grow back certain parts of your body
Can give the people the opportunity to regain the use of limbs.
13. Conclusion
Technology will help the medical field in many ways as time
goes by
There are always new developments being made to make
our lives easier
A big issue that remains with the advancement of technology
in the medical field is the ethical implications of certain
treatments
I look forward to seeing the advancements in medicine as
time goes by because it always seems like there is a new
and exciting idea coming.
