  2. 2. Fiction books are organized alphabetically by the author’s last name . Nonfiction books are organized by number according to the Dewey Decimal system .
  3. 3. Now that we know how our books are organized in the media center let’s explore Tiger Creek’s online catalog or database called SURPASS SAFARI .
  4. 4. The purpose of the on-line catalog is to help us find books and other materials in our Media Center.
  5. 5. How can we look for books using the Safari on-line catalog? We can locate a book, using the on-line catalog, by looking it up in one of three ways.
  6. 6. 1. Author’s name Example: Mary Pope Osborne 2. Title of a book. Example: Dragon of the Red Dawn 3. Subject Example: Dragons
