country in the area where English is the official language. It is considered to be a both
Caribbean and Latin American.

• Belize’s abundance of terrestrial and marine species and its

Large Animal Veterinary Practices in the Tropics : Dr. Edwardo
Tesecum is a Registered Veterinary Surgeon, licensed to practice in Belize. Dr.
Edwardo, as his students know him, has been teaching this class since 2004.
He also works with BAHA, Belize Animal Health Authority, and has a private
veterinary practice in San Ignacio, Cayo. Dr. Tesecum work with farmers to develop
good animal management practices to assist them in making their businesses
successful and he also Provide medical care to livestock in Belize.
Wildlife Medicine, Biology and Conservation : Dr. med. vet.
Isabelle Paquet-Durand is a Wildlife Veterinarian, instructor, international
consultant and medical translator. She has been teaching the Wildlife course since
2005.
Dr. Isabelle is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and has a Doctorate in
Parasitology, Epidemiology, and Molecular Biology and has worked for 15 years in
Latin America. Dr. Isabelle is the recipient of the Heska 2012 “Ideas in Action”
award which allowed her to start her Belize Wildlife and Referral Clinic.

“Just so you know, my interviewers at OSU were
completely fascinated by my Belize stories, so that's
something you can tell students that come in with hopes
of applying to vet school. They loved hearing about our
"third world" spay/neuter clinics using zip tie ligatures,
doing surgery completely under the use of injectables (no
gas), and no autoclaves. My interview went so well, they
called me less than a week later to tell me I was
accepted! Naturally, they asked me other things, but
Belize was the first subject that came up so it was
definitely a major stepping stone to get into vet school.”

• Winter, December 26 – January 6, 2013
10 days of course work, 3 credits each
$2,995 includes course, resort housing (double occupancy) with breakfast,
transportation to and from the airport, classes and excursions.
Application deadline is October 15th.
• Summer, June and July 2013
4 sections of two weeks courses, 3 credits each
$4,225 for two courses in four weeks or $2,675 for a two week course. The fees
include resort housing (double occupancy), transportation to and from the
airport, classes and field excursions. It also includes breakfast on weekdays.
Application deadline is March 15, 2013.

• Pay a $30 application fee via PayPal or mail a check.
• ISIS has a rolling admittance process so you’ll know within
a few weeks if you are accepted.
