Long Range Plan for Technology<br />The Texas Long Range Plan for Technology (LRPT), 2006-2020 “directly supports the mission of Texas Public Education by ensuring and engaging, relevant and future-focused system…preparing each student for success and productivity as a lifetime learner, a world class communicator, a competitive and creative knowledge worker, and an engaged contributing member of the emerging global digital society.”<br /> LRPT 2006-2020, pg viii<br />

Purpose of STaR Chart<br />Determine progress toward meeting the goals of the Texas Long Range Plan for Technology as well as district goals.<br />Assist in measuring efforts to improve student learning through technology use as specified in NCLB, Title II, Part D.<br />Identify needs for on-going professional development and raise awareness of research based instructional goals.<br />

STaR Chart Data Collection<br />Teachers are required to complete the STaR Chart survey online annually for federally mandated reporting <br />The annual STaR Chart survey gauges progress toward integrating technology into the school and curriculum <br />Teachers’ scores are averaged and taken into account when principal completes and submits Campus STaR chart to TEA<br />

STaR Chart Key Areas<br />The Texas School Technology and Readiness (STaR) Chart has been developed based on the four key areas of the LRPT:<br />Teaching and Learning <br />Educator Preparation and Development <br />Leadership, Administration and Instructional Support <br />Infrastructure for Technology<br />

  9. 9. The Goal<br />The ultimate goal is for all campuses throughout the entire state of Texas to be rated Target Tech in each category.<br />

Teaching and Learning Goals<br />To move toward Target Tech in Teaching and Learning, SLE and HJISD staff should set goals to:<br />Develop and implement exemplary lessons incorporating K-2 Technology Applications TEKS and model student-centered learning experiences <br />Encourage and model the daily integration of existing technology and digital resources into regular classroom instruction<br />

Educator Preparation Goals<br />To move toward Target Tech in Educator Preparation and Development, SLE and HJISD staff should set goals to:<br />Provide varied types professional development on technology integration <br />In PD offerings, integrate strategies for promoting students’ higher-order thinking and participation in collaborative learning communities<br />

Leadership Goals<br />To move toward Target Tech in Leadership, Administration, and Instructional Support, SLE and HJISD staff should set goals to:<br />Develop a technology-rich Campus Plan including goals for online learning and annual technology benchmarks supported by campus funds <br />Establish true teacher partnerships including identified campus technology leaders to participate in technology integration learning communities<br />

Infrastructure Goals<br />To move toward Target Tech in Infrastructure for Technology, SLE and HJISD staff should set goals to:<br />Arrange classrooms so the two computers in the room are accessible to and regularly used by all students <br />Decrease the student to computer ratio by funding and adding mobile technology solutions and add additional technologies as funds allow<br />

Review of the Data<br />Sour Lake scores at Developing and Advanced Tech in the four key areas of the Texas STaR Chart (based on LRPT)<br />The goal for Sour Lake and all Texas schools is to reach Target Tech Status <br />For the long-term benefit of our 21st Century Learners, we can take the necessary steps to reach target tech <br />
