  1. 1. MOVING DOWN UNDER By Addie Cant You are moving to Australia! This PowerPoint will guide you through preparing for the move and for the culture!

Introduction <ul><li>You're Grandmother in Sydney, Australia has invited you and your three best friends to come live with her for two years before you start college to try to help you discover what you want to do and experience the Australian lifestyle!  After taking Dr. Erben's class and realizing that Australia is what you have been looking for in your life all along, you decide to go!  This PowerPoint is an assignment to help you get prepared for the big move to not only another country, but another culture . </li></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul>

Task <ul><li>You as a group will have to coordinate and prepare for your move to Australia.  It is very important that you gain at least a minor understanding of the culture of Australia, as well as learn about the envrionment, people, etc... to make your transition from American to Australian culture as easy as possible. Each of these tasks should be covere by one to two students, and a Treasurer should keep track of basic finances...don't make Granny go broke! </li></ul>

Instructions… <ul><li>By the end of this assignment you should have the following completed: </li></ul><ul><li>          1.  Have plain tickets (with reasonably good prices) to the city of your choice in Australia, as well as a list of whatever else you will need. (passport, a good accent, etc…) </li></ul><ul><li>         2.  Have a list of appropriate supplies for you stay there, including appropriate types of clothing, vehicle planning, and just generally what you will need to live in Australia. </li></ul><ul><li>          3.  You will need a basic understanding of the different environments that can be found in Australia, as well as what dangers you may find there (both environment and animal) </li></ul><ul><li>          4.  Have a list of things to do in Australia: what Australians do for fun, what attractions are there, what the different people are like! </li></ul>
  5. 5. Process <ul><li>You as a group will use the resources on the following slides to accomplish all that you need to move to Australia!  In groups of four, each of you will have your own role and goals to accomplish with links to begin finding your information.  </li></ul>

Process <ul><li>Navigator: </li></ul><ul><li>Navigator:  Get the best prices on tickets to Australia!  You will need to surf the airline website to find the best deal for Granny (she's not computer literate).  Also, you will need to mark out the Top Ten attractions that you are going to see out on a map of Australia.  *obviously you are not buying tickets, just find out what a good price is from Tampa to Sydney for four of you and on what airline!  </li></ul><ul><li>http://travelocity.com/ </li></ul>
