Why is Economy important?
The economy is an indicator of development and
sustainability.
A good economy ensures better changes of survival
and development of a state.
If we understand the cycles and system in economies,
we can better understand how to ,manage our money
and society.
Overview of Pakistan's Economy
The economy of Pakistan is the 26th largest in the worlds in terms of
purchasing power parity(PPP), and 44th largest in terms of nominal
GPD.
In 1947, Pakistan had 30 million people with per capital income of
100$.
Agricultural accountant for almost 50% economic output with hardly
any manufacturing, as all industries located in India.
Therefore, it was unable to feed 30 million people and was dependent
on the imports from USA.

Importance of agriculture in Pakistan economy
Agriculture constitutes the largest sector of our economy.
Majority of the population, directly or indirectly, dependent
on this sector. It contributes about 24 percent of Gross
Domestic Product (GDP) and accounts for half of employed
labor force and is the largest source of foreign exchange
earnings. It feeds whole rural and urban population.
Kharif Crops
Pakistan has two cropping seasons, "Kharif" being
the first sowing season starting from April-June
and is harvested during October- December. Rice,
sugarcane, cotton, maize, moong, mash, bajra
and jowar are “Kharif" crops.
Rabi Crops
"Rabi", the second sowing season, begins in October-December
and is harvested in April-May. Wheat, gram, lentil (masoor),
tobacco, rapseed, barley and mustard are "Rabi" crops.
Pakistan’s agricultural productivity is dependent upon the
timely availability of water.
