In what way does my music magazine use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? <ul><li>Influenced by existing music magazines e.g. Q, Synthetik – using masthead, coverlines, one major image </li></ul><ul><li>found inspiration for the font in the internet and Microsoft Publisher® </li></ul><ul><li>Searched for front cover of electronic music magazines to analyse </li></ul><ul><li>Uses conventional Barcode </li></ul>

How does your media product represent particular social groups? <ul><li>bright colours are used </li></ul><ul><li>Colour connotation </li></ul><ul><li>Young language used </li></ul><ul><li>“wild” style , wild background creating night club atmosphere </li></ul><ul><li>young, out for a good time, independence of mind </li></ul>

What kind of media institution might distribute my music magazine and why? <ul><li>Bauer Media seems to be the best publisher for my magazine, because: </li></ul><ul><li>Publisher of lots of music magazines e.g. Q and Kerrang! </li></ul><ul><li>Experienced publisher </li></ul><ul><li>No electronic music magazine published by Bauer </li></ul><ul><li>Big publisher can help niche magazine to become a mainstream product </li></ul>

Who would be the audience for your music magazine? <ul><li>My stereotypical target reader is: </li></ul><ul><li>Between 16 and 24 </li></ul><ul><li>Male or Female </li></ul><ul><li>Enjoys clubbing, social drinking, eventual smoking , music festivals </li></ul><ul><li>Wide clothes variety (from mainstream brands like Adidas to underground fashion) </li></ul><ul><li>B-C2 class </li></ul>

How do I attract/address the audience? <ul><li>The audience is attracted through : </li></ul><ul><li>Raffles, free downloads, interesting stories </li></ul><ul><li>Addressed is the audience very direct (use of “you”), use of “young language”, use of bright green and controversial black to win attention, genre of music is very young in itself </li></ul>

What have I learned about technologies from the progress of constructing this product? <ul><li>What ICT did I use? </li></ul><ul><li>I used Digital camera, Photoshop, Microsoft Publisher and Word, the internet and Microsoft Power Point </li></ul><ul><li>I learned how to work with Photoshop at a basic level and improved my skills to work with Publisher and Power Point and set up blog (Swedish one because school blocked blogspot!) </li></ul>
  8. 8. Looking back at my preliminary task, what do I feel I have learned in the progression from it to the full production? <ul><li>more exact use of ICT (eg. Photoshop, Microsoft Publisher) </li></ul><ul><li>better understanding of font conventions </li></ul><ul><li>better understanding of colour use </li></ul><ul><li>More determined at reaching target audience </li></ul><ul><li>General attitude to work changed positively </li></ul>
