HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES INTHE CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH ANDPLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES?
We started our documentary by planning what it wouldcontain and what our chosen subject would be. Weworked as a group to work out what we though wouldbe good subjects that are relatable to things now andrelevant to most teenagers, as they were are decidedtarget audience. To do this we started with a basicbrain storm. From that we chose “illegal downloading”as our subject matter. From this we together and alsoindividually did research into the subject, we started ofwith looking at a basic documentary characteristicsand the things you would find in a documentary suchas voiceover, vox pop’s , professional interviews etc.we then used the internet and websites such asYouTube, bbciplayer and 4ondemand as all these sitesallowed us to access past and present TVdocumentarys and were able to see a wide varietyfrom ones made at home by people on YouTube toones that are professionally composed andbroadcasted on TV all for free, this allowed us tounderstand they type of documentary we wanted tobroadcast, we chose a relaxed and relatable feel waswhat we wanted and we wanted it to have a young andyouthful presentation.PLANNING- DOCUMENTARY
We used the internet to research aresubject as we needed to be able toprovide facts and statistics for aredocumentary otherwise it wouldn’t feellike we were telling the truth about thesubject matter. We used websites suchas BBC news, Google, music lab, radio 1etc. We also used the internet to contactare professional interviewees tooarrange are interviews with them andalso emailed the questions via emailbefore the interview so that the interviewcould potentially prepare for thequestions, giving us a very goodoutcome of a strong interview. We alsoused YouTube within the construction ofare documentary as background footageto show the websites that people areusing to illegally download form.RESEARCH
To create the documentary we used avariety of media technologies to constructeverything into its complete stages. Westarted with a basic video recorder and a tri-pod to recorded are footage with, after everyfilming session we had to lock and transferare footage to make sure it saved to ourfinal cut file on the apple mac’s where we allhad are own individual group folders wherewe stored are footage ready for editing andselection as a lot of the footage we recordedwe didn’t end up using as we had so much.With the cameras we were able to adjust thesound levels and the zoom and because wehad a tri-pod we could do pan shots andhigh and low allowing us to have a varietyof camera angles and shots. We also had touse headphone to make sure that when wewere filming the sound was also beingrecorded, sometimes we had issues with theheadphones not working but we overcameall these problems by team work and basicknowledge within the group of how to adjustthe media technologies.CONSTRUCTIONOnce all our final footage had ben view and selectedwe began editing in “final cut express” which is aprogramme on the apple mac’s, we had drawn out astoryboard of our documentary which allowed us tocreate are documentary around that.. We were able toadd in editing transitions which we had a wide rangeof and allowed us to give a smooth overall finish toare documentary allowing it too look as professionalas possible.
