Vision-Mission Tester Vision is based on drivers of change for the industry
Vision should paint a picture of the future
Vision defines what will happen in the future
Vision statement is imaginable – describes the future
Vision defines how you fit into the picture
Vision focuses on what you want to create
Vision statement is focused – shows what to do & not to do
Vision focuses on end result, not the process to achieve it
Vision statement is desirable – benefits for the followers is it worth doing?
Vision defines a growing business
Vision should be doable (what capabilities and competencies are critical, what assets do
you need – can you buy/develop/borrow/rent these) can we do it?
Vision statement is feasible – realistic attainable goals
Vision defines a sustainable business can we win?
Vision statement is flexible – allows “individual initiative” and “alternative response”
when conditions change.
Vision statement is easy to communicate
Mission shows how you will achieve the vision
Mission shows the value provided to customers
Mission shows how the value will be created – what to do to create the value
