I was born Feb. 3, 1981. In Berkeley California at Alta Bates Hospital. I was three months premature and weighed only 2lbs 8oz. This is a poem that my grandma wrote for me while I was in the NICU at Children’s Hospital in Oakland California.
This picture means a lot to me because I believe it speaks a lot to resiliency. My grandma gave me the yellow duck that is in the photo. Still as an adult when ever I have a serious medical procedure or an admitted in the hospital I bring “Lucky Ducky” with me to the hospital.

I love my Grandma! I was such a grandma’s girl!
I went through a total She-Ra phase. I remember this very clearly. She-Ra was coming to Toys R Us and I was very adamant about going to meet her even thought I had been horribly sick. My mom took me anyway (I missed out on a lot of “normal” experiences, Halloween, Field Trips at School etc. because I was sick a lot and I think she realized how important this was to me. I remember throwing up right as we got to the store. I am sure my poor mom was mortified but, I was so happy to see the “real” She-Ra that I didn’t even care that I felt miserable. It was one of the best days that I can remember. I really appreciate my mom making an effort to help me experience those “normal” moments when ever I could.

My Sisterhood in my sorority Alpha Xi Delta means a lot to me as to who I am. I feel like this helped build my confidence and gave me the opportunity to participate philanthropically and I met many of my closest friends
I dress up as Dorothy for many of our Halloween celebrations. This tradition started when I spent one Halloween as a patient in the hospital when I was 17 years old. My mom bought me some “ruby” slippers to match my blue hospital gown. I have added to my costume ever since. My dog Visa currently plays the role of Toto.

Sasha and I met up in Las Vegas for my 30th Birthday. I actually met Drew during that trip.
Drew and I met during my 30th Birthday trip in Las Vegas at this Sephora store. He sang me a song, went on a date the next day and stayed up all night talking. Fast forward almost 2 and a half years later and we are living in Boise Idaho with our Jack Russell Terrier Visa.

One of my closest friends Amber and I became friends in college. She was also pursuing the field of Child Life. We both volunteered for a local Oncology Camp and Relay for Life together. She is a pediatric cancer survivor and one of the most resilient people I am blessed to know. This picture was actually taken at a fundraiser for a local oncology camp

I would like to be remembered as a passionate philanthropist. In my free time I volunteer two local wish organizations Wishing Star (which grants wishes for Children from birth- age 21 in Idaho, Oregon and Washington who are facing life threatening illnesses) as well as Wish Granters (an Idaho based non-profit that grants wishes for terminally ill adults 18 years and older in Ada and Canyon County.) I also am a special events volunteer for an Idaho based Oncology camp for children, teens and families through American Cancer Society.
