The Youth on Board (YOB) Program <ul><li>Opportunity for youth engagement </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Students represent the needs and interests of the youth in our community </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Enhance the capacity for non-profit organizations </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Students are included in decision making </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Promote volunteerism </li></ul><ul><li>One year board placement </li></ul>

Benefits <ul><li>Students </li></ul><ul><ul><li>learn through interactive training and hands-on experience </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>participate in relevant discussions and decision-making </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Boards </li></ul><ul><ul><li>gain a youth perspective </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>expand reach through networks of youth </li></ul></ul>

Commitment <ul><li>Students: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Serve a one-year term (April 2009 – June 2010) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Attend all board meetings </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Participate on a committee or special project </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Attend meetings with YOB staff </li></ul></ul>

Qualifications <ul><li>Students </li></ul><ul><ul><li>demonstrated leadership experience </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>current high school sophomore or junior </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>live in Howard County </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Boards </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Non profit/governmental status </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>desire for a youth perspective </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>commitment to youth engagement </li></ul></ul>
