  5. 5. On the way home from Troy, after a raid on Ismarosin the land of the Cicones, Odysseus and histwelve ships were driven off course by storms. Theyvisited the lethargic Lotus-Eaters and werecaptured by the Cyclops Polyphemus, whilevisiting his island. Polyphemus was eating hismen, and Odysseus took a barrel of wine and theCyclops drank it, falling asleep.
