5. 5
• Homes and activities are rarely situated at the train station
• Door to door efficiently and seamlessly
• Bicycle links the station with the point of departure and destination
• For the state, quick economic and cleaner benefit – more commuters on the trains instead
of cars on the road (space and CO2 solution)
• For users, quick economic benefit for the – no need to pay parking and petrol, and the costs
of an extra mode of transport (bus, tram…)
• For employers, less investment in parking space, healthier employees, image

TRIP

SAFE, SHELTERED AND
CONVENIENT BIKE PARKING
• Location is an absolute priority. Racks and parking at the wrong location are a waste of
money and space.
• Make parking visible and choose the optimal location:
• near access routes
• near platforms
• when more entrances: divide the racks over all entrances
• in the view of local residents
• ground floor level

LAST MILE CONNECTIVITY REMAINS
A PROBLEM
• Most people do not have access to a bike at
their destination station
• Only interesting to own a bike at the
destination if it is used on a regular basis
• And if one can park it safely overnight
• Taking a bike on the train during peak hours
is not always allowed or feasible (capacity)
