Apart from what's already mentioned above, this young phenom was also the youngest DJ to ever be featured on the Sway in the Morning Show. She is currently a DTLR Radio DJ and can be heard on weekdays at 12:30pm EST in all 116 of their DTLR locations as well as on the DTLR website and app.
2. Passionate and professional, young Sierra Roundtree aka DJ Beauty
and the Beatz’s turntable prowess has never disappointed her
audience. Her style ranges from Hip Hop to pop to top 40’s to various
electronic genres. Hypnotized by her sound, poise and mainstream
appeal, most are even more fascinated by her story. It’s not often, if
at all, that you are musically mesmerized at a party, rocking to your
favorite beats and having the time of your life, only to look up and
realize that you are grooving to the tunes of a 14 year old female DJ.
Hailing from Las Vegas, NV, and now a resident of the nation’s capital
Washington, DC, DJ Beauty and the Beatz was exposed to music by
her father long before she could even crawl. Riding in the car with
him running errands, she realized her own love for beats and lyrics.
By six years of age, she began recognizing samples used by different
artists and shouting “air” suggestions to the radio DJ to play certain
songs together based on their similarities. It was at this point that her
mother introduced her to the idea of becoming a DJ herself (when
she got older). Young, determined, and ready (now), Beauty and the
Beatz convinced her parents to buy her equipment. Unable to afford it
at the time, her parents borrowed turntables from friends and skipped
out on meals to purchase needles two to three times a week. A first
grade reading level proved it challenging to read “How to DJ” books,
so six year old DJ Beauty and the Beatz quickly took to YouTube as
her instructor and practiced every day after school in her parent’s
garage. By eight years old, she was spinning at schools, boys and girls
clubs, and local Vegas teen gatherings.
With a style and sound of her own, DJ Beauty and the Beatz has been
featured in several periodicals, including
The Washington Post. Popular kid’s periodical, Scholastic Magazine
named Beatz one of the “8 Coolest Kids We met in 2014”. Guest
appearances on national news networks include ABC and Fox. Her
unmatched talent has gained her national notoriety and even the
President and First Lady of the United States took notice. DJ Beauty
and the Beatz was invited to the White House and performed for the
Obamas during the annual White House
“Easter Egg Roll (2014)”.
Now recognized as a celebrity Deejay, Beauty and the Beatz has not
only entertained celebs like the First Family, Will Smith, Jamie Foxx,
Meagan Good, Big Sean, Doug E Fresh, and Academy Award and
Best Actress nominee, Quvenzhane’ Wallis, but she’s added to her
client list companies like Sony, Target, Colgate, Toyota, The Source
Magazine, VH1 Save the Music, and GRAMMY.
Recognizing her ability to influence fans, DJ Beauty and the Beatz
uses her star power for good. She encourages others to donate their
time and talent and has taken a stand to lead by example. She has
worked with some of her favorite charities to include Lady Gaga’s
Born This Way Foundation, Make A Wish Foundation, Girl Up, Boys
and Girls Club of America, Fair Girls, VH1 Save the Music, Girl Scouts,
and Project Hygiene.
