  1. 1. Find a Dissertation Using ProQuest A step-by-step guide
  2. 2. Step 1 From the library homepage, select the Databases tab
  3. 3. Step 2 Select the ProQuest database. Find it in the alphabetical or drop-down lists.
  4. 4. Step 3 Enter your search terms, and choose “Dissertations & Theses.”
  5. 5. Step 4 For immediate full text results, narrow results by full text. To find more results, do not choose this option.
  6. 6. Step 5 Click on the “Full text – PDF” link for the full dissertation.
  7. 7. Step 6 To find a dissertation that is not in full text, first try Google Scholar. Copy the entire title into the search box at scholar.google.com.
  8. 8. Step 7 If a PDF is available, click on the link to the right of the title.
  9. 9. Step 8 This will usually take you to the institutional repository in which the dissertation resides. You are welcome to download the PDF from here.
  10. 10. Step 9 If Google Scholar does not return any full text results, click the Find it! button to request it via WSU Interlibary Loan.
  11. 11. Step 10 Two clicks to request the item via WSU Interlibrary Loan.
  12. 12. Step 11 Enter the 14-digit code from the back of your WSU ID. Your password is your last name.
  13. 13. Step 12 Ensure the form is filled out correctly, then click Submit Request. In many cases, the form will be blank. Fill in the information from the ProQuest record. * You will receive an email from WSU Interlibrary Loan when your thesis or dissertation comes in. It may be an electronic file or in book form. Electronic files will be attached to the email. You can pick books up at the Front Desk of Krueger Library.
