We began exploring IIIF in 2016
when we introduced the IIIF
Presentation API to the LUNA
Toolset with our v7.2 release.
From the Share feature you can
launch a URL or a IIIF manifest
(the blue highlighted text)

You can then take the IIIF manifest and paste it into a IIIF Viewer such as the IIIF Universal Viewer or

17. Ongoing development in LUNA: Going beyond a IIIF Image Server
In addition to easily sharing the IIIF manifest (illustrated below),
we’ve added a Universal Viewer option to the LUNA Detail View

The IIIF Viewer is currently an option launched from LUNA Detail View.
It doesn’t replace the LUNA Detail View since we still have features within LUNA that are not yet fully
supported by the IIIF Presentation API

amount of traffic from sources such as the Guardian and the BBC to National
Geographic. Of which - perhaps 50% of all of the viewers who clicked on the URLs to
view the worlds largest map, did so on mobile devices –

media groups, related media and key word searching at your fingertips;
Accessible - we are aiming to meet Section 508 guidelines (WCAG 2.0 Level AA) for alt tags and
keyboard navigation requirements;
Customizable - for LUNA clients working with LUNA as a IIIF Image Server
