6. Lydia Millen came back to the
University to talk to current students
about her career in blogging and
branding on the internet. Lydia runs
a successful lifestyle blog and has
thousands of online followers. She
turned something she loved doing
into a career and wanted to share her
experiences with students, with the
hope that they would be inspired to
pursue their dreams.
“I decided to come back to the
University because it’s an opportunity
to tell people about my experience and
what I did to get to where I am today.
It has been quite a trip down memory
lane coming back, I would definitely
give another talk again; it’s been an
amazing experience.”
Third year Fashion Marketing student,
Elizabeth Jarvis, attended Lydia’s
talk and was inspired by her words:
“Lydia showed me what you can do
if you are really determined and I am
really grateful she came back to the
University today. It would be great if
other alumni would come back and
share their experiences too, it is such
a beneficial thing for current students
to attend”.

Provide your inspirational story
The University of Northampton is proud of its graduates and we love to hear how you are all getting on since graduating. We
believe that you should be shouting about your successes and showing how well you have done. We often ask alumnus to
complete a ‘case study’ form which is an easy way for you to share your story with us. Case studies inspire current students’
horizons in terms of the range of careers and employment sectors open to them and many prospective and current students
say they learn as much from graduate career profiles as they do from lecturers regarding courses.
