  2. 2. The project Youth to Action<br />The Ministry of Social Affairs has the aim that nobody should be unemployed for more than three months without being offered a job, study opportunity, job training or participation in some project.<br />
  3. 3. Icelandic courses in Polish<br />Retor - Kópavogur: Icelandic and job search. <br />Mímir - Skeifan: Icelandic and outdoor activities<br />Mímir - Skeifan: Icelandic and computers<br />
  4. 4. Icelandic courses<br />Path - Reykjavík city centre: Icelandic and job search<br />Betri árangur: On Suðurlandsbraut, Reykjavík<br />Fjölmenning: Reykjavík city centre<br />
  5. 5. MK in Kópavogur<br />Icelandic, chef and waiter: Icelandic, cooking, waiting tables, bartender, computers, history and culture of Iceland.<br />Icelandic handicrafts and design: Icelandic, computers, knitting, sewing and designing.<br />
  6. 6. Mímir<br />School for settlers:Lots of Icelandic, society and culture, computer lessons, real-competence folder. For those who have finished at least 2 levels of Icelandic.<br />
  7. 7. Courses in English<br />Operation of construction equipment<br />Small-trucker course C1<br />Computers for beginners<br />Computers – advanced<br />
  8. 8. Operation of construction equipment: Taught in english, material in icelandic. Gives you the right to take exams for all types and sizes of construction machinery.<br />Small-trucker course C1: Taught in english, material in icelandic. The course gives you right to take the exam for the C1 licence to drive a truck up to 7500 kg, with seats for 8 passangers.<br />
  9. 9. Computers - beginners: Taught in English, general computer skills and windows. Word, Excel, Internet, facebook and e-mail.<br />Computers - advanced:Taught in English. for people that know the basics. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Digital photography.<br />

Voluntary work<br />Icelandic Redcross: Great variety of work.<br />World-wide friends: Environment protection with volunteers from Europe. <br />Youth in Action: 3 to 12 months in another country. Completely free within Europe – flight, housing, food, pocket-money and a language-course. <br />
  11. 11. Study contract with VMST<br />Office Skills Programme: MK in Kópavogur, at night from 17:30 to 20:30. We pay the school fee.<br />Find an interesting course for your self!<br />
  12. 12. Study grant: For studies that improve your possibilities to get work. We pay 50% of the course, maximum 70.000 kr. Labour union too.<br />Job training: You find an interesting workplace. 3 to 6 months contract. Minimum wage or higher.<br />Develop your own business idea: Work on your business idea for up to 6 months.<br />Individual counselling: Help with job seeking or anything else.<br />CV making: We help you to make a good CV.<br />Job seeking abroad: E-303 within Europe.<br />
  13. 13. Part-time and occational work<br />Salary less than 59.047 kr does NOT affect benefits.<br />50% of salary over 59.047 kr is withdrawn from benefits.<br />You have to let know about this work BEFORE you do it.<br />

Keep looking for a job!<br />Read announcements in the newspapers.<br />Read announcements on the internet.<br />Go to the company and ask for an interview.<br />Send your CV to interesting companies.<br />Fill out application on homepages of companies. Send your CV with it.<br />Register with all the job agencies.<br />

The selection will be done NOW!<br />Please select 2 - 3 options on your paper.<br />The completed paper is handed to the counsellor.<br />Counsellor will contact you by e-mail/smswhen the activity starts.<br />You will then come to the office, sign a confirmation and get more detailed information about, location, time etc. <br /> Thank you for attending and good luck!<br />
