Villa Normanna was built in 1968 by the painter Gunvor Advocaat and her husband Thurmann Nielsen
Oistein, a painter and graphic artist. The couple first lived in Rome before moving to Taormina, Sicily,
where they stayed for many years, making their dream come true by building a house on a mountainside
overlooking the Mediterranean sea with a terrace-garden filled with exotic trees and flowers.
