  2. 2. What is Web Hosting?????? A web hosting service is a type of Internet hostingservice that allows individuals and organizations tomake their website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space ona server owned or leased for use by clients, as well asproviding Internet connectivity, typically in a datacenter. Web hosts can also provide data center spaceand connectivity to the Internet for other serverslocated in their data center, called colocation
  3. 3.  The most basic is web page and small-scale filehosting, where files can be uploaded via File TransferProtocol (FTP) or a Web interface. The files are usually delivered to the Web "as is" orwith minimal processing. Many Internet serviceproviders(ISPs) offer this service free to subscribers. Individuals and organizations may also obtain Webpage hosting from alternative service providers.Personal web site hosting is typicallyfree, advertisement-sponsored, or inexpensive.Business web site hosting often has a higher expense.
  4. 4. Definitions:- Hosting Service:– A hosting account provides the harddisk space and continuous Internet connectionnecessary to ensure that website and its content isviewable and accessible on the World Wide Web. Domain Name – domain name (sometimes referred to asa URL) is website’s online address. People who type adomain name (such as facebook.com) into their Internetbrowsers will be directed to that website.
  5. 5. Types of Web Hosting:- Shared Website Hosting Shared hosting, also called virtual hosting, is thehosting of multiple websites on the same web server. With shared hosting, a web hosting company providesthe user storage space and makes the websites filesaccessible to others via the internet. The web host also maintains the server and providestechnical support for it. Perhaps the greatest advantage of shared hosting isthat its efficient use of resources means that it costsmuch less than most other types of website hosting.
  6. 6.  Shared web hosting also means that users can benefitfrom the expertise of the web hosting companyproviding the servers. While shared hosting is an appropriate choice formany users, its not right for everyone. Those withextensive technical know-how who want completecontrol over their servers and websites are betterserved by another hosting option. If site is large and extremely active website owner willbe required more server recourses than sharedhosting.
  7. 7.  Dedicated Website Hosting With dedicated web hosting, there is a web serverdevoted entirely to site. one may purchase own server or pay for access to aserver owned by someone else. If site owner own serverand have it stored in someone elses facility, he is usingwhat is known as colocation hosting. In any type of dedicated hosting, because the server isexclusively dedicated to particular site, owner of the sitewill have full control over its use and administration. This allows you to manage all aspects of your site.
  8. 8.  If a owner of website wants to create a large site for acompany with plenty of technical and financialresources, dedicated hosting might be right for them. If site demand a lot of server space and bandwidth, too, dedicated server is needed to host it. For individuals and small or midsized companies, however, there are a number of aspects of dedicatedhosting that make it a less desirable option.
  9. 9.  Virtual Private Server Website Hosting This type of hosting is something of a cross betweendedicated hosting and shared hosting. Virtual private server hosting involves a dedicated serverbeing shared by multiple users. The users share the resources of the server, but the serverspace is strictly divided into allocated percentages so thateach users percentage of the server is dedicated only to thatusers website. This hosting arrangement gives a user some of the control ofa dedicated server without the large-scale investment in aserver that may have more space than necessary.
  10. 10.  Virtual private server hosting does provide limitedresources, however, and even if site experiences atemporary traffic spike or another unusualdemand, there will not be extra resources flexiblyavailable to meet the need. The somewhat complicated arrangements of virtualprivate server hosting can also be a drawback to thishosting option, as service providers can createconfusing service agreements that include unexpectedlimitations for their users. Choice
