  2. 2. What is video-conferencing <ul><li>Video-conferencing is sometimes called teleconferencing or telecommunications. </li></ul><ul><li>It is the process of seeing and talking with someone in “real time” in another location. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Video-conferencing in M.S.A.D.#50 <ul><li>In the beginning, we wished to establish a communication link with students on a neighboring island for facilitation of programming for a shared student. We wrote a grant and received funding to achieve this goal. </li></ul><ul><li>Last year, we used the video-conferencing network to facilitate programming for students in our district and to collaborate with a Speech pathologist in another district in Maine. </li></ul>

  5. 5. How to Use the Video-conferencing Network <ul><li>First, we click on the icon and up comes the conferencing picture and a phone. </li></ul>

When to use video-conferencing <ul><li>We can use video-conferencing in M.S.A.D.#50 to facilitate speech-language programming for students. </li></ul><ul><li>We can use video conferencing for collaboration and supervision. </li></ul><ul><li>We can use video conferencing for distance learning purposes. </li></ul>

From school to school <ul><li>Students are excited to practice their communication skills using the conferencing network and ask to talk their friends in the district. </li></ul><ul><li>It was fascinating to see brother and sister communicate between the Lura Libby school and the Thomaston Grammar school. </li></ul><ul><li>It was wonderful to watch other Speech pathologists and students work together. </li></ul>
  11. 11. What This Means <ul><li>We can continue student, teacher and peer relationships. </li></ul><ul><li>We can establish continuity in Speech-Language programming for students. </li></ul>
