  2. 2. Adoption and Integration ORCID has issued over 886,000 iDs since our launch in October 2012. Integration and use is international.   4. 4. Sloan A&I programme The Sloan Adoption and Integration programme ends September 2014. • 9 projects • 7 Universities • Multiple platforms (Dspace, Fedora, VIVO, Symplectic…) • 2 Scholarly societies The project reports are coming in NOW.

Outreach and Adoption Getting researchers to claim IDs… • Denmark The DEFF-funded ORCID implementation project has the goal 80 % participation by researchers… project funds are subject to registration thresholds of 40 %, 60 % and 80 % of the total number of FTE researchers. • Portugal A nationwide call for all FCT-funded investigators to register with ORCID.
  6. 6. Outreach and Adoption Getting researchers to claim IDs. • Italy and Norway Aiming to exploit touchpoints with researchers’ existing workflows to drive adoption
  7. 7. ORCID developments In the last year we have: • Enabled connections between researchers and organisations • Added connections with Funding awards • Connections with ISNI • Improved user interface - ONGOING • Public API supports authentication We are continuing to roll out improvements.

  9. 9. ORCID developments Publishers Roundtripping. Authors ORCID will provide functionality for authors to “roundtrip” their information by the end of 2014.
  10. 10. ORCID and Datasets ORCID and DataCite Interoperability Network (ODIN) 2 year, European Commission FP7 project. September 2012 to September 2014
  11. 11. ORCID and Datasets PIDs are as useful as the connections between them. ODIN built proof-of-concept connections: • EThOS • ISNI • Dryad Digital Repository • Australian National Data Service • INSPIRE • Archaeology Data Service Harmonised metadata schemas and built crosswalks.

ODIN undertook a landscape analysis of PID provision across the research community and identified gaps in PID provision and services The roadmap made 10 recommendations for actions that could fill the gaps.
