• Human rights are rights inherent to all
human beings, whatever our nationality,
place of residence, sex, national or ethnic
origin, color, religion, language, or any
other status. We are all equally entitled to
our human rights without discrimination.
UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF
HUMAN RIGHTS
• The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a declaration adopted by
the United Nations GeneralAssembly on 10 December 1948 at the Palais
de Chaillot, Paris. The Declaration arose directly from the experience of
the SecondWorldWar and represents the first global expression of what
many people believe to be the rights to which all human beings are
inherently entitled.
■ The right to education also includes a responsibility to provide
basic education for individuals who have not completed
primary education.
■ A civic duty is an action or responsibility expected of every member of
a society: obeying laws, serving on juries, paying taxes to the
government, voting in elections and doing volunteer work. Many
believe these civic duties are the basic tenets of citizenship.
Responsibility
■ A duty or obligation to satisfactorily perform or complete a task
(assigned by someone, or created by one's own promise or
circumstances) that one must fulfill, and which has a consequent
penalty for failure.
Duties
■ Ethical, legal, or moral accountability,
owed always or for a certain period,
specially to someone who has a
corresponding right to demand
satisfaction of an obligation.
Payment of taxes
■ The administration of a country involves a certain amount of
expenditure. This expenditure cannot be met without raising
certain taxes. Citizens in their own interest, should, therefore
willingly and honestly make payment of their taxes.
Duty
■ Vote is a sacred trust in the hands of the citizens. It should
always be used judiciously. Suitable representatives should be
sent to the legislatures. A wrong use of vote may result in a
bad government.
■ Every citizen should be public spirited. He should not seek his
self-interest and should always be ready to contribute his
mite to the welfare of society.
Toleration
■ Every citizen is expected to be tolerant towards others.Their
religions beliefs "Do unto others what you wish to be done
by," should be the motto before every citizen.
RESISTANCE
It is more or less a moral duty. It is the duty of a good citizen to resist injustice
from any quarter. If the government is unjust, it may also be resisted.
