  1. 1. VEDIC THTYAVastu in Sanskrit means nature , a surrounding orenvironment. The word "vastu” denoting anythingexisting such as house, shelter, building etc.Shastra insanskrit means systems.Vastu shastra is an ancient artand science, containing principles and practises ofconstructing buildings which ensures a harmoniousbalance between man and nature and thereby bring allround happiness, health, wealth and prosperity. VastuShastra is a science which teaches us to be compatibleand create a perfect harmony between “Panch-tatva”(the five essential elements of nature) namely Akash(Sky), Prithvi (Earth), Paani - Jal (Water), Agni (Fire) &Vayu (Air) and also Pranic Oorja (Cosmic/solar) & JaivicOorja ( Organic energies) .
  2. 2. THE PANCHMAHABHUTAIn the universe every thing is constructed by the five elements. The principles of Vastu Shastra are also based on these five basic elements. These five elements are also called as PANCHMAHABHUTA. So first, we shall discuss about the principles related to the five elements (earth, water, fire, air and space). Thereafter, we will present the guidelines associated with various directions.

  8. 8. (1) solar energy termed as (Pranic) energy orthe cosmic energy, and(2) electromagnetic flux termed as (Jaivic)energy or the organic energy.Pranic or the solar force field can be representedas an everchanging dynamic vector referencedto solar position and moves through 360degrees in relation to the earths position. Onthe other hand, Jaivic or organic force field isunidirectional with vectors directed from Northto South poles.
  9. 9. The term Jaivic Urja (organic energy) in ancient scriptsrefers to the North- South geomagnetic flux. These fieldlines orient and fix energy centres in living organisms. This eternal unidirectional flow defines, propagates anddirects the existence at a cellular level in all livingentities. The Pranic Urja (cosmic energy) refers to thehighly energetic solar energy flux, the intensity of whichvaries with the relative position of the sun with respectto the earth The dark portion of the solar disk indicatesthe relative intensity of solar flux received by the earth,i,e., from the South direction the earth receives themaximum amount of solar energy. As such, the North-East is termed as the source of allenergies and the South-West is termed as the sink of allthe energies.
  10. 10. East-South-West is considered as the solar kingdom andWest-North-East is called the lunar kingdom. Duringsunrise, for the first 2-2.5 hours, the sun providesenergy for promotion of life. It lies in the East directionand its primary energies are good for existence of alllife-forms. The next three hours it starts radiating moreand more energy in the environment and is called thestate of Agni (fire). This is the time when it startsmoving on its mission gradually, providing negativeeffects. During this period the sun lies in the South-Eastzone.
  11. 11. The next three hours, in its third phase, a complete glowand aura of the sun starts coming out with its full force andenergy. This is called Yama- a scorching and devastatingstate of the sun. During this period, the sun lies exactlyabove the head, i.e., in South-mid-horizon. This is thereason why the South is called the direction of Yama (Lordof death). After giving out all its radiation, the followingthree hours the sun rules over the entire horizon with itscomplete command. This is called Gagan, a state associatedwith sorrow due to the sun s excess thermal activity and itslocation in the South- West. At sunset it cools down anddirects its rays towards the moon for its night-reign.

  13. 13. When the Sun is above the celestial equatorduring the seasons of spring and summer, youwill have more than 12 hours of daylight. TheSun will rise in the northeast, follow a long, higharc north of the celestial equator, and set in thenorthwest. Where exactly it rises or sets andhow long the Sun is above the horizon dependson the day of the year and the latitude of theobserver. When the Sun is below the celestialequator during the seasons of autumn andwinter, you will have less than 12 hours ofdaylight. The Sun will rise in the southeast, follow a short, low arc south of the celestialequator, and set in the southwest. The exactpath it follows depends on the date and theobservers latitude.

  20. 20. MODERN PHYSICS AND VASTUGravitational interactions, as per Einsteins theory ofrelativity, can be interpreted in terms of space-timegeometry. •Man has no control over time factor, but for harmonious relationship with the cosmos, he can alter the space he lives in.•Vastushastra defines and shapes spaces for designingdwellings that are in harmony with nature, and arebeneficial to the mind and body of the personsoccupying these houses. Dik-kal (dik=direction, kal=time) is the theme of Vastushastra. Space-time isits reflection in modern physics.

  22. 22. For designing criteria, six-key accommodation units, namely, the gate, drawing room, kitchen, toilet, stair, and bad room of a resident were taken intoconsideration. There are eight possible direction fororienting these units [that is, for coordinal direction, namely, North, South, East and west and four angulardirection, namely NE, NW, SE, SW]. Grading scales wereevolved for each of the accommodation units on thebasis of various aspect of the environment, namely, lighting, ventilation, energetic electromagnetic waves, size and aestheticity. Each aspect has its ownimportance. Negligence of any one aspect may negatethe effect of all others. The evolved design criterion wasthen tested in the field by taking 50 random residencefrom the city of Lucknow. The various accommodationunits were awarded marks as per the evolved gradingsystem and, thus, the total calculated value are theoverall rating of each residence was called as the orientrating.

The badnews is that he did not get theopportunity to use our service!"Ever wonder why some roomsinvite you to work and othersseem to suck energy from yourbody? . While not rooted inhard science, vastu shastrahasmany fans: British PrimeMinister Tony Blair, forexample, had his residence,No. 10 Dowening St.,redesigned to give himmaximum mental energy. 27. 27. The worlds most political powerhouses live here. They have a tremendous amount of power and influence in International affairs due to excellent vaastu-the north and the east are open. However, the wrong tune-up wit the southern and the western portion deprived them individual prosperity. The right rectification through Vaastu can balance that area.
  28. 28. CONCLUSIONI encourage you to understand that if yourhome/business is not properly Vaastusynchronized, then your health and materialwealth will slowly decrease in quality. Nature isnot going to come and tell you personally to fixyour place according to Vaastu. In the samemanner, suppose if you eat junk food all thetime. You can live, however, your body cells willstart burning fast and will wear out fast. Yourpersonal life and health is good signal of Vaastu.
  29. 29. CONCLUSIONThe path of adaptation of Vaastu Principles waskeenly practiced by our ancient sages andcommoners for building homes, temples, and cities. This has gained momentum in modern times.Leading Architects and Builders are offering Vaastucompliant homes to their clients. We need to getour selves convinced that Vaastu Shastra is not ahoax but a trusted science which correctly guidesus in today’s world of hardship and stress.
