2. 2. Weather Phenomenon

A weather phenomenon is the same thing as a meteorological phenomenon

A meteorological phenomenon is a weather event which can be explained by the principles of meteorology a.ka. the interdisciplinary scientific study of the atmosphere that focuses on weather processes and forecasting.

 3. 3. More About Weather Phenomena

Observable Characteristics of weather

Tropical Storm, Tropical Depression, and Hurricane are types of weather phenomena

 4. 4. Why I made this Geodatabase

This geodatabase will help people better observe weather forecasting patterns based on effects of weather phenomena allocated in archived data.

There are other types of weather phenomenon such as blizzards, and flooding, but I decided to use hurricanes as a type of weather phenomenon because of the impact this type of weather phenomenon had in 2005.

Tables and Raster Dataset

One Non-spatial table that has category codes and descriptions

One Non-spatial table that has the amount of rainfall in Texas for Hurricane Rita

One Non-spatial table that has deaths associated with Hurricane Rita

One Raster image that shows the map of the United States that I converted from Vector to Raster in ArcMap

 9. 9. Hurricane Rita Effects

Focus on Southeast Texas

Deaths – 120(Reported Deaths);7(Direct Deaths)

Rainfall – up to about 11 inches in some areas

$11.3 billion in damage on the U.S. Gulf Coast
