  1. 1. SCIP (India) Chapter Past Events: Background: Since 2008 several Indian members of SCIP had been talking to SCIP about an Indian chapter. However, at that time interest levels were relatively low. In mid 2011, a survey was conducted to gauge the level of interest for a SCIP chapter. A positive response encouraged us to start the Indian chapter, and in august 2011, we received approval from SCIP's board. The first Indian chapter meeting was held in Mumbai in December 2011. Objectives: The objectives for the Indian chapter are: • To protect a forum for CI professionals to network. • To share best practices in the field of competitive intelligence. • To develop the community and establish standards for competitive intelligence in India. Who can participate? • • • • • CI professionals Consultants Users of CI Students Anybody interested in CI 20th of December, 2011 (Mumbai): At the first meeting, participants spoke about their roles within their companies, their interest in CI and what they expected from the newly formed Indian chapter of SCIP. These charter members also discussed their vision for SCIP India as instrumental in laying down definitions and standards for CI practitioners in India, as well as what they hoped to gain and give back to the CI community through their participation in SCIP India. 12th of April, 2012 (Mumbai): At the second meeting, the topic of discussion was - ‘How to set up a Competitive Intelligence (CI) function in an organization’. The session witnessed a panel of CI experts from diverse organizations sharing their experiences and views. This was followed by a brief networking session. Both the meetings were hosted by Thomson Reuters.
