  5. 5. 5EEFFECTS OF SOCIAL-MEDIA ON YOUTH TOWARDS ENTREPRENEURSHIP INTRODUCTION 1.1 Introduction: Social media web sites, such as Facebook and twitter, have become nearly inescapable facets of modern life, particularly for kids. And a new report suggests they can have real benefits and risks for children. [1] Social media sites offer today's youth a portal for entertainment and communication and have grown exponentially in recent years [1.1] Now let’s see what one of the most renowned authors have to say "Social media sites are mostly good. They're where kids socialize and where they connect together today," said report author Dr. Gwenn O’Keeffe, CEO and editor-in-chief of pediatrics now. "Kids' social spaces are shrinking. They don't have the places or the time to hang out like their parents did. Social media allows them to have time to reconnect. But, it has to be done in a way that's not all-encompassing," O’Keeffe said. [1.1] So, what kind of an impact that social media is having on youth today? Well I have conducted this research keeping in mind various factors and objectives to try and analyze if the hypothesis build around (null hypothesis) is true. This material constitutes original research while using a primary research methodology for analyzing and presenting significant information about social media. [1.2] The project studied the management of primary research data and records for analyzing the effects of social media on the entrepreneurial opportunities created towards youth. The project had the following aims and objectives: 1.2 Project Aims:  To identify the effect of social media on the youth.  To examine the effects of social media on youth towards entrepreneurship  To assess the kind of relations that exists among the use of Social Media and its effects on the entrepreneurial opportunities created towards youth .
  6. 6. 6EEFFECTS OF SOCIAL-MEDIA ON YOUTH TOWARDS ENTREPRENEURSHIP METHODOLOGY 2.1 Methodology a) Sampling I have conducted this research with the help of random sampling by distributing questioner with a sample size of 50 respondents and try to co-relate the data accumulated with our null hypothesis through this research we can also draw conclusion if few steps by social media such as parental control can be taken in order to make social media a better way to socialize. b) Hypotheses Null and Alternate hypothesis  [h0] There is a positive relationship between access to social media and its impact towards enhancing entrepreneurship skills among youth.  [h1] There is no relationship between access to social media and its impact towards enhancing entrepreneurship skills among youth. c) Tool and Analysis used The collected data/information is tabulated and analyzed as ordinal data through simple statistical tools. Bivariate, under correlation tool is the test used in this research. In addition, tabular and graphic methods are also employed in which line of Regression is observed. Further, diagnostic approach is used wherever necessary. d) Period of the Study The Data is collected over a period of five weeks during the current semester e) Relevance of the Study:
  7. 7. 7EEFFECTS OF SOCIAL-MEDIA ON YOUTH TOWARDS ENTREPRENEURSHIP The present research is concerned with the increasing number of young entrepreneurs using the power of social media to launch their business ideas, platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. This is an useful study to identify whether a group of participants agree if social media and its impact towards enhancing entrepreneurship skills among youth.
  8. 8. 8EEFFECTS OF SOCIAL-MEDIA ON YOUTH TOWARDS ENTREPRENEURSHIP ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION 3.1 Analysis and Interpretation Effects of social media on the entrepreneurial opportunities created towards youth. Factors considered towards the study: a) Significance of idea generation towards creating entrepreneurial skills in youth. b) Investment opportunities created through social networking websites. c) New business trends created through social media. a) Significance of idea generation towards creating entrepreneurial skills in youth. In this particular section of the questionnaire, the prime objective is to figure out whether social media holds any significance towards idea generation towards new startups or does the social media has simply nothing to do with the idea generation towards entrepreneurial skills in youth. Pie-chart showing that most of the participants agree with the problem statement b) Investment opportunities created through social networking websites.
  9. 9. 9EEFFECTS OF SOCIAL-MEDIA ON YOUTH TOWARDS ENTREPRENEURSHIP “Nowadays, media is in everyone’s pocket. Through the smartphone, everyone can browse, shop and keep up with the latest trends of fashion, and since everyone is up to date with the social media, it is very useful for all the young designers because they can be recognised in a very short period of time,” said Sarah, a resident of Dubai used Facebook as her main source of advertising when she started her entrepreneurial journey by opening Hejabi Couture, an online store selling contemporary modest wear. Let’s see the views of our participants. Pie-chart showing that most of the participants agree with the problem statement c) New business trends created through social media. Since the emerging trends in business tends to develop and integrate with technological advancements, hence to identify whether the youth agrees to adopt new business trends created by social media. Pie-chart showing that most of the participants agree with the problem statement, followed by strongly agree by 32.1%

From this correlation table, I’ve assumed Social Media improves entrepreneurial opportunities as the Y – axis and all the other variables i.e. “Is Social Media Beneficial for youth”, “Social Media provides investment opportunities” and “Is Social Media creating awareness for new businesses” as X1, X2 and X3, respectively. After comparing Y – axis with each of the (X) variables individually, we conclude that its X3 which has the highest association as well as the highest sig value (.002) While X1 and X2 on the other hand has a weak association and do not show a significant result since the sig value is out of the scale of evaluation.

  14. 14. 14EEFFECTS OF SOCIAL-MEDIA ON YOUTH TOWARDS ENTREPRENEURSHIP RESULT 4.1 Result This section presents the issues explored and the solution arising from the data analysis. It does show that we partially reject the null hypothesis and also partially accept the alternate hypothesis. 4.2 The Research Purpose Research is a complex task. It involves of distinct efforts, undertaking of the willing participants. The research task is creative, exploratory, contextualized and wide ranging to the core project being undertaken. Although research is not a series of routine tasks or processes that repeat in the same ways which later leads to common trades. Hence it was not easy to identify what youth thinks towards Social media in today’s scenario.
  15. 15. 15EEFFECTS OF SOCIAL-MEDIA ON YOUTH TOWARDS ENTREPRENEURSHIP CONCLUSION 5.1 Conclusion The study basically deals as how social media affects four different aspects including entrepreneurship, cyber-bullying, self-esteem and the level of stress on youth. Referencing has been taken on different social networking sites and the survey has been done with the help of a questionnaire which we have done on the google docs on 30 different participants. All the 30 respondents are students keeping in mind the frequency of usage of social media. Post survey what we have found out is that social media plays a pivotal role in the overall development of youth, it can either be used in a positive manner or there are several ways that social media is used in a negative way. in the objective1 that is “to examine the effects of social media on youth towards entrepreneurship” and according to our null hypothesis “there is a positive relationship between access to social media and its impact towards enhancing entrepreneurship skills among youth”, we have concluded that social media plays a very significant role in the development of entrepreneurial skills, since social media basically works on the principle of networking which we can use for the exchange of ideas and information and at the same time social media is the best platform to start a new venture in the form of start-ups these days which emerges as a new form of business in current scenario. On the whole social media provides youth an overall opportunity for the idea generation, enhancement of entrepreneurship skills and investments can also be done in the ventures like start-ups. So according to our hypothesis, there is a strong positive correlation that social media plays a positive impact on the development of entrepreneurship skills in youth. The major concern of the project was the security and integrity of the collected information during the primary research data. This concern is of high importance as I create and hold the data for the duration of the project. Loss of data confidentiality ha legal and professional implications as well as questions the credibility of the researcher. Most of the security concerns related to methods of ensuring the security of confidential data
